FVLP STRATEGIC CONTEXT

The Faughan Valley Landscape Partnership Scheme involves a working partnership between RAPID, Derry City Council and the Woodland Trust. The project vision is to “create a vibrant, natural and cultural diverse landscape within the Faughan Valley that the whole community appreciates, and is engaged with, making it a sustainable landscape for living”.


The main objectives of the Faughan Valley LPS are to:

• To conserve and restore priority habitats and associated priority species.
• To conserve and restore key features of our built heritage.
• To engage with and involve landowners, local communities and other user groups in decision making and project delivery.
• To encourage greater understanding, enjoyment of and involvement in the area’s natural, cultural and built heritage amongst local communities, visitors and currently under-represented groups.
• To work in partnership with other projects throughout the Derry-Londonderry area, providing a framework for managing the Faughan Valley at a landscape scale.
